My client are a global mining services business who prides themselves on their innovation in maximising outcomes for the clients they service. Their technological products have been developed over the last 100 years and they have a solid reputation for quality and as a trusted and well-respected brand.
Due to further successful project acquisitions, they are now seeking an Engineering Procurement Specialist who will have responsibility for formulating strategy within sourcing processes across the engineering CAPEX and OPEX spend. Your focus will be in managing multiple high risk projects that are critical for plant productivity. You will join a structure of 6 other Specialists and you will have complete responsibility for end to end procurement of your assigned projects. The team manage a collective spend of approx. $350 million.
Your core day to day responsibilities will encompass the following:
- Design and deliver strategy to reduce company engineering costs and improve supplier performance.
- Ensure company stakeholders buy-in to the strategy.
- Lead or support the procurement manager in key supplier negotiations.
- Lead and participate in regular meetings with team, site engineers, project managers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Contract Management – negotiate the terms and conditions with suppliers and ensure compliance with company T&Cs.
Core skills and criteria for this role are:
- Tertiary qualification in engineering is essential.
- You will have at least 10 years procurement experience within engineering procurement and this must be from a chemical/oil and gas/mining/heavy industries background.
- Expertise in Opex and Capex engineering procurement improvement program.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
